Aerial Screw by Made Tschikay on DIY.

A description of this awesome machine from maker Made Tschikay:

It’s a model of a 1480 sketch from Leonardo da Vinci. An early idea of a flying machine. Although modern scientists do not believe it can fly, because of the weight/lift ratio; and built like that, the whole thing would spin.

Bamboo Bike

While living in Africa, a group of entrepreneurs from Amsterdam realized that the continent was not maximizing its exports of manufactured goods. Blackstar was created in an effort to fix this. The Dutch company wanted to produce a bike from sustainable material and they did so by harnessing ghana’s bamboo harvest. Their concept aims to support Africa’s labor force and entrepreneurs, providing formal employment that embodies the future development of African product and trade. [db]
